About 1021 NE 33rd Ave , Portland, OR 97232

The Mann Home is registered on the National Register of Historic Places and sits on 3.14 acres between NE Sandy Boulevard and NE Oregon Street on 33rd Avenue in Portland, Oregon. This 3.14 parcel was originally part of the Hazel Fern Farm, most of which was developed into Portland’s Laurelhurst neighborhood. Built in 1910, the architectural style of the Mann Home was designed after the English Elizabethan style of the 16th century. The architect of record is Whitehouse & Fouilhoux, once the longest running architectural firm in Oregon. A number of their better known projects include the U.S. Courthouse, Jefferson and Lincoln High Schools, the University Club, Multnomah Stadium, Temple Beth Israel Synagogue, and the Portland Municipal Auditorium (now the Keller Auditorium). The Mann Home was originally designed and opened to care for “aged women and men.” This unsurpassed, magnificent three-story brick structure is currently a “U” shaped plan formed by two short wings which originate out of the main building. The East Wing was constructed in 1953 and the West Wing was added in 1993. Situated within a secluded setting, and surrounded by 2 acres of exquisite landscaping, The Mann Home measures more than 60,000 square feet. Over its lifetime, The Mann Home has been utilized as a senior living facility, an alcoholic treatment center, a skilled nursing facility, and is currently a residential meditation and community center with onsite residents (The Movement Center). This rare property sports a range of amenities that could acclimate to a variety of uses, including a large commercial kitchen, a gym, upgraded private offices, large courtyards, dining rooms, religious spaces, studio space, exercise rooms, multiple bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, a garden, gazebo, lodging, and lounges. Seismic, interior renovation, fire, HVAC efficiency, wing additions, have also occurred over the years. The property has previously been used as a senior living facility, an alcoholic treatment center, and a skilled nursing facility, but would also be suitable for a school or satellite college campus, co-housing, senior center, retreat center, boutique hotel, multifamily property, private education, boarding, and a variety of other possibilities. A truly unique property in an ideal location with endless possibilities!
