The Avenue of the Arts is Philadelphia’s signature street. It has grown to become the heart of the City aesthetically, socially, economically, and culturally. The Avenue is one of the most vibrant and successful performing arts, residential, educational, commercial, and tourist destinations in the United States. Economic impact from arts and culture on the Avenue of the Arts has grown exponentially creating thousands of jobs and generating significant tax revenue for the city and state. Over $800 million of economic impact is generated by arts and culture activities along this corridor. These activities have created over 10,900 jobs, $265± million in wages, $18± million in local tax dollars, and $24± in state tax dollars. The Avenue is a City-designated arts cultural district on a segment of Broad Street in Philadelphia that includes many of the City's cultural institutions, most notably the theater district south of City Hall.
