ABOUT RIVER NORTH
When the live/work/play modality took off in the mid-2010s, River North was the “it” place to work, carved out of the area's last remaining brick-and-timber warehouses. The area lies adjacent to the award-winning, remodeled Chicago River Walk, replete with excellent dining options and scenic river tours. In fact, the River Walk was designed by Carol Ross Barney, who recently won the American Institute of Architecture gold medal for 2023. River North is also home to the city's second-largest office the Merchandise Mart (“theMart”), a massive, 4 million-square-foot building that was the largest office in the world when it was built in 1930. Adjacent to theMart is the purple and brown line “L” stop, while the red line is only a few blocks east.
River North's vintage feel is its brand, and for some office tenants, this will always be a draw. It also helps that the area is a magnet for recent college graduates to want to live and work. River North’s low-rise beauties are blessed with a similar aesthetic to its Fulton Market neighbor to the west with better mass transit access.
