Putting Technology and Research to Work Construction on Building One @ Tech Center broke ground on August 24, 2017. Tech Center Research Park will be located on 50 acres adjacent to the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, one of 17 national science laboratories funded by the Department of Energy. The new site will provide nearly 1 million square feet of prime office space, where large and small high-tech companies can carry out advanced research. By creating a collaborative space where like-minded businesses can grow and invent, Tech Center encourages innovation. Tech Center follows the proven business model of the acclaimed Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (VTCRC) in Blacksburg, Virginia. Located adjacent to the university, this collaboration corridor currently employs more than 2,900 people and is home to more than 180 research, technology, and support companies. To access Building One @ Tech Center enter from the intersection of Hogan Drive off Jefferson Avenue (Route 143). Building One @ Tech Center will be located at the corner of Hogan Drive and Hofstadter Road; across from Venture Apartments. Tech Center Research Park is located in Newport News in the Hampton Roads area of southeastern Virginia and will include a vibrant, urban marketplace, walkable streets, onsite luxury housing and new public spaces. The 100-acre mixed-use development is anchored by the world-renowned Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab). NASA Langley Research Center and Langley Air Force Base are nearby, as well as companies like Canon, Alion Science and Technology, C² Technologies and Triumph Aerospace Systems.
