ABOUT REDMOND
Redmond is one of the most established office nodes on the Eastside, Seattle’s most affluent suburban area. Microsoft has called the area home for decades, which has driven demand for high-end office space. The software giant is in the midst of a multimillion-square-foot expansion here. Other firms have followed, including Nintendo and, most recently, Amazon, which leased more than 100,000 square feet at the former Macy’s at Redmond Town Center.
Developers have started to build in Redmond again, giving tenants more options when it comes to high-end space, which often rents at a discount relative to nearby Bellevue.
One of Redmond’s main selling points is its proximity to workers, as many of Microsoft and Amazon’s employees live on the Eastside. The city is also accessible for commuters via Interstate 405 and SR-509 and will become more convenient for transit riders from Seattle and beyond. Light rail is scheduled to reach the area by 2023, with a full completion of the line when the Downtown Redmond line opens in 2024.
