Built in 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis, this 3 story bunker was used as a communications repeater station between Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Francisco during the Cold War and Vietnam War. Hidden in plain sight, the small garage sits within the confines of a barbed wire industrial fence that encloses ±0.75 acres. On the surface, only the ±875 SF garage, paved parking lot, air vents, escape hatch, three-phase power and nuclear blast detector are visible. Below the surface is the ±8,120 SF bunker constructed of 20,000 PSI concrete with two-feet thick ceiling, walls and floor. The entrance and emergency exit are protected by 1,000 pound blast doors located at the base of a three story metal stairwell. To construct this bunker today, it would cost over $20 Million.
