Bio
Paul William “Wick” Hartung, III is a Canton, Ohio, native. Wick graduated from Jackson High in 1971. He attended Miami University receiving a Bachelor of Science, Marketing, and Management in 1975; and Arizona State University earning a Masters in Business Administration in 1977.
Wick is a partner, broker, and Vice President of Sales and Leasing for Putman Properties, Inc. He directs the marketing, property management; construction renovation, sales, and leasing efforts. Putman Properties, Inc., manages over one million square feet of commercial/industrial and investment properties as well as selling and leasing properties concentrating in Stark, Summit, Portage, Wayne, and Tuscarawas Counties.
He joined Tim Putman in 1986 and immediately the pairing made a name in Stark County by successfully marketing the one million square feet and sixty acre former Babcock-Wilcox plant on Canton’s Raff Road and the 600,000 sq.ft. former Union Metal Plant on the northeast side of Canton.
Wick originally was licensed 1979 in Laguna Beach, California. After three years of residential sales and management he accepted a position with OK Properties in Lancaster, PA, in 1983. There he served as project manager for eight Certified Historic Renovations in PA, MA, and OH. This experience included property selection, architectural and site planning, construction and renovation, leasing retail, office, and high-end luxury apartments. This proved to be the foundation of practical experience he brought to Putman Properties, Inc., in 1986.
Having worked out of Southern CA and Eastern PA in specialized roles prepared Wick for the diverse activities he carries out on behalf of his clients with Putman Properties, Inc. Wick is experienced in industrial park development, land sales, office leasing and sales, industrial/distribution sales and leasing as well as site selection and income property analysis and disposition.
Recently, the opportunities for Tax Deferred Exchanges have occupied much of Wick’s time.
Notable recent transactions of interest include the following:
1) Negotiating a ten (10) year lease with the U.S. Veterans Administration to build a 10,700 square foot Community Outpatient Clinic within the Monroe Centre in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Wick also acted as Project Manager during Tenant Improvements.
2) Purchase leaseback of the former 20,000 square foot United Floral Facility at the new I-77 / Shuffel interchange in North Canton, Ohio, for a local investor.
3) Leasing 86,000 square feet to Crown Cork & Seal and 25,000 square feet to Timken in the former Danner Press facility now known as the 77-30 Center in Canton, Ohio.
4) Listing and sale of the 50,000 square foot former Pepsi Cola facility on Route 62 in Canton, Ohio, to a Cleveland business expanding into this market.
Wick is involved with his hometown. He is a graduate of Leadership Stark County, former Board Member of Meals on Wheels of Stark and Wayne Counties, and Brookside Country Club, is an Elder and former Finance Committee Chairman for John Knox Presbyterian Church in Jackson Township and a current Board Member of the Canton Preservation Society.
Wick has four adult children: Linsey - Miami 2005, Lauren - Miami 2008, twins Taylor- Mount Union 2011, and Spencer - Ohio University 2011 and three grandchildren.
